What is Ruqyah Shariyah?

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
اعْرِضُوا عَلَيَّ رُقَاكُمْ، لَا بَأْسَ بِالرُّقَى مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهِ شِرْكٌ
“Show me your ruqyahs (healing methods), there is nothing wrong with ruqyah as long as it does not involve shirk.”
(Sahih Muslim)
The Prophet ﷺ himself used ruqyah and was also treated through ruqyah by Angel Jibreel عليه السلام.
